i have another secret...
i don't wash may hair everyday
{or my dishes.. or my jeans...}
yikes right!? well im not just lazy, i have quite a few hair stylist buddies that have told me its tons better for your hair if you don't wash it everyday!
who knew that being a lazy bum would benefit my hair! i have always had mildly curly hair with just enough frizz in it that its pretty impossible to wear it naturally... i either need to curl it or straighten it and both ways take time.
i want to get at least 2 days out of my styling
everyone has always asked me how i get away with it...
my secret used to be baby powder, until my husband asked me one day why my hair looked grey...
crap.
busted.
baby powder totally sucks up the oil but leaves a dusty white residue and i don't know about you guys but its not a good look for me
then i discovered...
i have used other dry shampoos and they seem to smell chemical-y.. but this one has a super fresh citrus fragrance, i literally ran off to Target as soon as the first batch came out and was devastated to find that all they had left were rain checks!
boo.
well, i waited and the anticipation was totally worth it! {my hair looks freaking awesome!} and even with brown hair there is no white residue! hallelujah!
there is totally a technique to getting the best out of your TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo
here are the "Do's and Don'ts"
DO shake it up! even between bursts
DO lift in sections and spray directly into roots
DO spray in short bursts 8-12 inches from your head
DON'T spray like hairspray
DO let it set for 1-2 minutes
DO use fingertips or a brush to distribute product evenly
tip: if clogging occurs, remove the nozzle and rinse under warm water
if you want a visual, check out this video tutorial
coolest part is since i started using this dry shampoo TRESemme has expanded their line to include these new formulas for Strengthening, Volumizing and Smoothing....
{my next purchase is the Volumizing!}
I love the dry shampoo because I straighten my hair every day too and this seriously cuts down on my "getting ready" time. Occasionally I have to touch up with the straighter on day 2 if I sleep funny but still, I love not having to spend an hour getting ready.

I used to use Bumble and Bumble but I agree, Tresemme's is awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy nozzle got jammed up so thanks for that tip...can't wait to use it again!
Yay for not washing our hair every day - it's much gentler that way. I will have to try this product, as I am now stretching my washes out to about 4 days (curly, fine hair). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have used the Tresemme kind, and I haven't used any other kind, so I have no way of comparing. However, I feel like my hair feels funny after I use this. It definitely looks better, but it feels...chalky? Is it normal to feel like there is a layer of film on your hair? Like I said, I'm not able to compare it to any other product.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I am using too much. After seeing that video, I get the feeling I am.
ReplyDeleteI love this product! Ran to get it right after I saw the commercial. When I use it my hair feels clean for most of the day. I don't use it if I have something special going on in the evening because my hair is too oily to go that long, but it's great for casual days where I don't want to wash my hair. Love the tips!
ReplyDeleteI love that dry shampoo! I have curly hair, but have been straightening it a lot more lately... so like you, I want to get a few days out of the straightening process! I'm glad I watched the video though - turns out, I've been using it wrong. Oops!
ReplyDeleteBetter Than a Milk Mustache
First of all, my mouth dropped when I read that you've used baby powder on your hair...Eeeek! That's MY secret too!! I've never met ANYONE else who has done that! And the only person I've ever shared that secret with was a friend going on a missions trip to Mt Kilamajaro(sp?) & wouldn't be showering for several days so she was worried about her hair. Worked out great...she's blonde like me.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I didn't know Tressemme had dry shampoo! I've seen the infomercial for "Wen" & was excited about the idea of dry shampoo but "wen" is too much for my budget. I'll have to try Tressemme's out - glad you shared this!!! How often do you use it? Do you do a regular was after 3-4 days? ...this could change my life!
