two faced...

Jun 20, 2012

this is the after picture...
{the after i let my chidren "make me over" and then cleaned it off and re-did it...}

  this is Cora's half of my face... she demonstrated the "smokey eye" {according to her of course} with a sculpted cheek using the smear-it-down-to-the-jaw-line technique...

Eva's half was a classic eye with a defined crease {not too shabby actually!} her blush was almost in the right place... pretty good for a nine yr old!
neither one of them attempted to work on my dark circles... they are novices after all!

honestly i was laughing so hard that im sure i didn't make it easy on them... we made a video {that needs some serious editing} that i will post eventually.... they both have expressed a serious interest in blogging and Eva said when she turns 18 her and i can be makeup artists together! at this very moment they are begging me to get off the computer and do some projects for their american girl dolls... too bad Eva shattered my camera {no lie, loooooong story...}
thats why i love these fancy phones, who needs cameras anymore! {k seriously i really do need a nice one, but you know what i mean!}
thank goodness for my android!

Walmart tee, Styled by Tori Spelling necklace, Old Navy pants {$2!} and Kohls wedges {not shown}
monsters.

 if anyone is interested in the last make over Cora gave me you can check it out HERE

the closest to laundry i'm ever gonna get....

Mar 29, 2012

So this is the skirt i made for Eva...

...because of this stain that i was too lazy to treat...

chop...

 fold so the stain is on the edge and chop again!
 stitch the edge closed and now you have a new skirt and one less piece of laundry to make your husband do
;^)
Target hoodie, Walmart tee, refashioned pencil skirt, dollar store footless tights, Target flats styled by miss Eva herself!

lets talk about it...
what will you go OUT OF YOUR WAY to avoid no matter how extreme?... like sewing new clothes to avoid washing old ones etc... come on spill it!

The law of Averages

Dec 2, 2011

Target hat, Old Navy sweater, thrifted blazer, OldNavy Rockstar jeans, Payless boots

So my kids like to take turns being the "suck-up" and the "sassy pants"
one will sass me and be uterly difficult and the other will notice the bratty-ness and decide shes gonna majorly suck up to me so as to move in as the "good girl"

you know how it goes...
C: "i dont want to wear that outfit... those skinny jeans are scratchy!"
E: "Mommy, i love when you pick out my outfit, you have the best styling skills {i swear she says this} i want to wear skinny jeans and i dont care if they are scratchy..."

well, the other day they were BOTH bad... and they wouldn't quit, nobody wanted to step up to be the suck up...
So i yelled in frustration
"One of you has got to be obedient!... Its the law of averages!"

they became quiet... and then i heard laughing...
but it wasn't them

it was my mom {who i  left on speaker phone...}

she laughed and LAUGHED... and then we all did..

its her favorite....

Jul 26, 2011

 ive gotta be honest...when i sew for the kids i usually choose everything the pattern and the fabric.. i really shouldnt be surprised that hardly any of my "masterpieces" have become favorites... until this sassy little number...
i let Cora dig in my fabric basket AND pick her favorite pattern... and would you believe it is now her very favorite dress!

i am getting to the point with my little monsters where i have to let them choose their outfits and can i just say it kills me to relinquish control! {if i had it my way they would wear matching girly outfits everyday}

but look how happy her face is... i think i will let her choose more often!

Eva on the other hand announced to me that she was a "tom boy" so i said ok kid... if you say so..
the very next day she put together an outfit complete with pleated skirt, lacy cardigan and matching accessories...

a tiny maxi....

Jul 19, 2011

 when i was visiting Sophie she handed me a pile of clothes from her refashion pile and told me what she wanted to do with them... so i got to work...

this was my favorite transformation! she thrifted an empire waist tube top in a super cute print that she invisioned as a baby maxi dress..

here is the before picture...
 i basically just took in the sides to fit my shrimpy little niece Eden and used the extra fabric for the straps...
       look at that face!

so easy it kills me... and eden loved it so much she wore it for 3 days straight!

 see how stylish she is! she even realizes the importance of accessories!

and just for kicks some dance party pictures...
they were doings some "floor work" to "Baby" by the Biebs... a talented group these three...

Sweet Serendipity

Aunt Selina...

Jun 27, 2011

 at church on Sunday my little niece Eden was having her own sweet meltdown... {in her defense she was teething so bad that she had both tiny hands in her mouth and drool dripping down her little chin} this usually sweet little mini Sophie refused to go to nursery... it was not happening. i decided that since i never get to do this {my kids are big now}i would scoop up that child and give my sis a break.
Eden and i roamed the halls touching every item on the bulletin boards and saying out loud what color it was, we got ice cold drinks from the fountain like big girls and decided what we thought was scratchy and what was smooth... then i boldly told that child  "lay your coco {coconut/head}on my shoulder, go na-night"
and people....
SHE DID.
if you knew this child you would know that it is nearly impossible to get her to sleep on a person, she is a very routine blankey, binkey, crib kind of a girl... it was a miracle.

and i loved every minute of it.
she slept on my shoulder for the rest of church while holding on to my necklace with her tiny little fingers...

precious.

she snores, fiy, and its the sweetest sound
Target tee, necklace made by me, thrifted skirt, TJ Maxx shoes

she calls me "Ahh, sah-yee-ya"

~Sah-yee-ya

ps. we had So much fun at the blogger meet up... i personally have brand new blog crushes and had so much fun meeting people in person that i felt like i kind of already knew... too fun, we will blog more about it when we get a hold of some pictures to share....

sometimes i let the kids run the "photo shoots"...
thrifted and refashioned blouse, necklace made by me, Target jeggings, Steve Madden shoes
this is our loving nature shot...

i was "mirroring" Cora... not to embarrassing...
..getting embarrassed...
totally mortified.
 our neighbors probably think we are so strange..

and finally the action shot on the tire swing...

we went to Carrabbas for dinner for our family 10 yr anniversary date...
it was delicious fun.

{Cora just learned to cross her eyes..}

it was a really fun evening with my monsters and my sweetie

well friends... we are off on our big yearly road trip out to good old UT, pray that nobody pukes and that  we all can "hold it till the next rest stop"

i am hoping to be making cute things to swap at the Swap Meet-up

a mommy daughter date...

Jun 1, 2011

 when we were little girls our mom used to take us on "mommy daughter dates" where we each got a one-on-one turn for some mommy time... {which was quite precious considering there were seven kids!}

i decided this was an important tradition to carry on, {even though i only have 2 little monsters, they still need to have their own day of undivided attention} so Eva and i set the date and made our plans...

first of all some bargain shopping at TJ Maxx... {of course}

they didn't really have a lot of kid shoes but a girl can dream of bigger feet...

 many, many sparkle-y prom shoes to choose from...

look at those tiny feet! i remember trying on my mom's shoes and thinking they were only two fingers too big... and that i only needed to grow for about 6 more months before they would fit!
{it was more like 6 yrs}

she FORCED me to try these on...

just a few of our sweet deals...

 i told Eva she could pick anywhere she wanted to go for lunch... {i was hoping she would pick Panera and praying she wouldn't pick Mickey D's}

She picked Carrabas.
i told her it would dip into our shoes budget...
 ...but she really REALLY wanted calamari
{weirdest request from an 8 year old}

 a little bit of napkin art..
 yummy bread...
 delicious pizza and pasta..

 full tummy...

a little more shoe shopping and a movie to end our day {we had to stay out past bedtime of course!}

i had so much fun with my little sugar, i don't see her much during the week because of school so it was so nice to take our time for a day...

~selina

ps... yes, i noticed the "Daddy" shirt... the irony is not lost on me!
