so scared that i cut out the pieces and just stared at them for 3 days....
so scared that i used a thrifted polka dot bed sheet instead of fabric (in case i totally destroyed it)
seriously, am i the only one scared of DARTS... and ZIPPERS
but... I DID IT!
This is the "coffee date dress" by Elaine aka the selfish seamstress (not so selfish since this is a FREE pdf pattern she posted on burda style, i love that girl)
it wasn't as hard as i thought... i even got a little creative...
I added cap sleeves
4 inches to the skirt
and.....
an exposed electric blue zipper....
i MADE a big girl dress! woo hoo!

I was so giddy to see you in it at church. I'm so proud of you for tackling those darts/zipper! And to be true to Selina fashion, you added a blue zipper that screams stylish and sassy!
ReplyDeleteFound you guys through your comment on Selfish Seamstress and I already know I'm going to enjoy this blog!
ReplyDelete(And the dress, zipper and nail polish are just delicious together, too!)
Nice job! I like the exposed zipper. I just attempted a dress and got stuck on the "hidden" zipper. I will have to try that next time!
ReplyDeleteK, so this is fabulous and i TOTALLY need to give it a try. I was looking through the free patterns on the Burda website and came across this one http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/a-plus-a-line-by-twinkle-by-wenlan so cute huh?? Grab a shirt to tuck in, cute belt and some killer heels and you are so there. Love your girl's blog :)
ReplyDeleteomg! it is totally cute, and yes! sometimes I come up with a project and I stare at it for days, until I get the courage to make something...good job!
