so i hit this wicked sale at Michaels a few weeks ago where every jewelry making thing was 75% off {my favorite!}
and all i wanted was chains...
lots and lots of them.
i had know idea what i would make but i hoarded those chains like a good little bargainista until i was inspired....
i started with this one...
{it was about the length i wanted my necklace to be}
then i found 2 more chunky ones that were a bit shorter...
i found the center point of all 3...
then i found this little lovlie and thought, "why not all the metals in the rainbow?"
{a metalic rainbow, of course}
so i took appart the clasp...
...and attached it to my main necklace on one side..
then i sort of "messily" wrapped it...
and hooked it onto the other side
next i hooked my other 2 chains onto my main chain with a jump ring...
and all you have to do is make a lazy braid...
..and hook the ends to the other side with a jump ring..
i used 2 more jump rings on the ends of the necklace and added a clasp...
pretty easy and it only cost me $3..
granted if you bought these babies full price it would be closer to a $12 necklace and in that case i would say run your buts over to Forever 21...
this would also be pretty easy to do with a handful of random necklaces that you already own and are kind of sick of... just refashion what we've got! {suddenly i am getting the urge to refashion all my jewelry!... i think thats what i will be doing on our 30 hour drive to UT}

ps... are you coming to the blogger swap meet up? we are really excited! so far at least 3 of the 4 sisters will be there and we would love to meet you all!
Great idea! I love refashioning old things!
ReplyDeleteWow this looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I actually had seen a super cute necklace on F21 and I wanted to make it myself. I refashioned a whole bunch of chains (the tiny necklace chains), bought some more and used the beads I had at home but never knew what to make with. The whole thing cost pretty much nothing and it's one of my favorite necklaces now!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post!
