some ditz for ya...

Apr 24, 2012

 so, i am known for doing supremely dumb and ditzy things on a regular basis... its kind of my thing. well to be fair its kind of a family thing... we can be pretty doofus.
and when you put more than one of us together the doofusness just compounds...
it is always dangerous for us to talk on the phone while driving anywhere {its not uncommon for one or both of us to get lost driving home from the grocery store a block away}

we are kind of professional exit missers,
out the door forgeters
 {you know that one thing you need to grab on your way out that you look right at and walk right by because Sophie is telling a great story about Eden pooping nuggets in the tub}
key missplacers
{among other things}
MIA wedding singers
{lets just say i rehearsed and rehearsed and the day of i watched tv... no lie! 4 days later i jumped up and realized what i had done!}
we are also pretty skilled at the "hey hold on a sec" but we really mean an hour... and the best part is that the other one doesnt usually remember they were on the phone to begin with!

and then there is yesterday on the phone with Sophie... ran through the kitchen to grab the thing i couldn't forget to bring... looked at it and walked right on by, got in my car threw my phone in the passenger seat, and proceeded to talk to my water bottle

 MY WATER BOTTLE!
 of course i told her and we bust out laughing only insuring that i would also forget to bring my running shoes to Running Club {which i coached in heels}

Thrifted blazer, Old Navy necklace, Kohls top,  Old Navy jeggings, Dolce Vita for Target wedges, Dollar Tree sunglasses
and for a laugh...
this is what i do when i think the camera is off {doofus face #1 is my personal fav. although the squishy face is pretty funny}

any doofus ditzy stuff you want to share?

ps... anyone else out there rooting for Derek and Maria on DWTS just to see if they will fall in love get married and have babies? anyone?

A Royal Cardi...

Apr 29, 2011

 ok.. so really the broach is the only sort of royal thing about this cardi...
i made these for my girls Easter dresses and then changed my mind and they didn't wear them because the dresses i made ended up looking super overdone with the huge twirly skirt AND a ruffle-y cardi... even I know where to draw the line..

this is SUPER easy, hardly wastes any fabric and honestly, i think i need one in my size!

you will need a Super cheap long sleeved T shirt
{i am constantly hoarding cheap Tees for a rainy day}

 Fold your Tee in half and chop off the bottom about half way down
{for me that was about 8 inches}

it should look like this..

line up your side  and shoulder seams...

...so you can cut out the front of your cardi,
 {i curved the bottom edge but you don't have to}

it should look like this

 for the sleeves...
chop off the seams

crop the sleeves i half also
{again i chopped about 8 inches}

cut those in half again {4 inch sleeve pieces}
 and then snip out the side seams and open them up... you will now sandwich those together and stitch the 2 sides together {my sleeves tapered a bit so i made sure i lined them up to match}

next slip the new sleeve onto the old one upside down with right sides together...
 they will not fit but that is what you want, make sure you line up the side seams and then you just stretch the old sleeve to fit the new one..

after it is attached pull on it and it will sort of ruffle..

now for the neck ruffle!

take your 8 inch chunk from the bottom of your Tee and chop it into two 4 inch wide strips and stitch them together at the ends to make one L O N G 4 inch wide strip...
now Ruffle that sucker by setting your machine to the longest stitch length and running that stitch right down the center of your strip... then pulling gently on the bobbin thread to gather the fabric

pin it to the neck line of your cardi adjusting your gathers to fit and then stitch it on with a small zig-zag stitch... unpick your gathering stitch {or if your thread matches and no one will see it, don't!}

all done! super fancy!

 add a big cute button or a fancy broach and make it a Royal cardi!

ps... are you a Refashionista too? join the club over at Cotton and Curls!

OH, a little bit of Ditz for ya... my big oops

i meant to make a cute vest.. and ended up making scrap fabric instead

i was SUPPOSED to cut out the front of the Tee... not the front and back

DOOFUS.

livy in a chair and a little bit of ditz...

Apr 13, 2011

Dolce Vita for Target shoes, necklace made by Liv,
so, this is Selina speaking, not Liv
{i know confusing but we thought you needed to hear a little bit of ditz on good old hump day}

i am gonna tell you a little story about daylight-savings  and spring picture day...

it was a monday morning and i woke up about an hour late... Cora was already 15 mins late for pre-school and she was still asleep.. so i jump out of bed like a doofus screaming down the stairs
"we're late WAKE UP!" poor baby still had sleepy eyes as i threw on an old sweater dress and didn't even brush her hair. out the door we flew with a baggie of cereal to eat in the car...

i bust through the door at pre-school, panting from all that jogging and her teachers say "oh good, hurry Cora, you are the last one for pictures!"

PICTURES!

i watched them wisk my child away from me in what felt like slow motion... cereal crumbs on her face, completely ratted hair, her sweater dress that used to be her sisters that she wore the match to 3 yrs ago {you just dont repeat outfits for picture day, isn't that a rule?}

..."wait, but..."

there was nothing i could do

not buying those pictures.

fast forward a few weeks and guess what proofs i get back...

yes, Livy, you guessed it... the worst proofs ever, of the most doofus morning ever... she is an adorable child, don't get me wrong... but these pictures, goodness.
picture the cheesy arms folded full body pose PLUS an easle of a close up of her dirty face and ratty hair right behind her..

i burst out laughing, cleared my throat and pretended i didn't just laugh at my own childs pictures {in front of the other moms}

~sigh~

is it just me, or should it be a crime to schedule spring pictures the morning after daylight-savings!

a work outfit and some ditz

Mar 25, 2011

Sister #3 work outfit:
Shirt~Target, Pants~Express, Purse~Ross

Nine West pumps~ ROSS (Delicious huh?)

 Sister #2 here!
Sister #1 read the title of this post saved in our drafts as "work out" outfit.
She scratched her head and wondered why Olivia would wear this to the gym.
"Even I wouldn't wear heels to work out in" she thought. (Although she wears them to and from teaching dance)

This lead me to thinking, it's about time we share some of our ditzy moments once again...

Last night I was talking to Selina on the phone whilst making dinner... I'm talking and talking and wondering WHY on earth my alfredo sauce does not seem to be heating up??, then I realize that the nob is turned to the off position... i was stirring for about 7 minutes before i noticed... genius. I can't tell you how many times I have missed my exit or gotten lost talking to Selina on the phone... I literally can not count.

Here's a few for Olivia (side note~ Olivia was functioning on very little sleep during the time of these quotes):

Mindlessly walking up the stairs and picking up one of Eden's (18 mos.) shirts Olivia says to herself...
"Is this my shirt........no. It's a baby shirt"
I almost peed (k not really) but the shirt was the size of half her arm.

We are driving in Costa Mesa and I say, "Livi what street do I turn on?"
To which she replied, "Straight".

Getting ready to head out (morning time) and saying bye to Liv...
Me: "Okay, so we'll be back around noon to come get you and then we'll head over to the game. See you in a bit."
Olivia: "Okay.... goodnight!"

It appears that we only do the really dumb stuff around each other...

Have any ditzy moments you would like to share??????

xoxo~

Adventures....

Feb 8, 2011

Some say "2 heads are better than one" in our case "three heads aren't better than half a head"

Friday included an eventful trip to Target{where else} with Mom, Sister #1, Sister #2 and a two of the Mini's.
Event #1:
Baby Eden {16 mos} was getting grouchy so we let her out of the cart for .5 secs and she took off... we thought we were all good cause Cora {4 3/4 yrs old} took off after her.. they were headed toward the juniors section with Sophie following close behind. Cora suddenly stopped in her tracks and turns to aunt Sophie and says "i think i lost her.." Sophie calls out to Mom and i "help. HELP!" we all split up quickly sweeping the area...

Don't worry, Eden made friends with two lovely strangers who kindly brought her back to us from the opposite side of the store! keep in mind this all happened in less than 60 seconds! we still have no idea how Eden managed to learn how to Teleport herself from the juniors Section to the shoes in such a short amount of time!

Event #2:
Cora  and Eden were in the back of the cart as we were shopping in the baby section... Eden insisted on standing and Cora was not gonna have any of that so Cora said
"Eden! sit, sit, SIT!" (over and over)
the other Moms, who were also hitting the clearance rack, were APPALLED... {you see Cora has a tiny lisp, so the word "sit" sounds a whole lot like a very bad word that also begins with "s"} and all they knew was, that child's mother is just letting her get away with that horrible language! what is her problem! Sophie noticed and said "she's not saying what you think she is saying her mother would never let her say that!"

Event #3:
We have been at the store for about 40 minutes when we notice a bright colorful sticker on Mom's hip very near her derriere.  The sticker reads "Two Pack", that's right TWO PACK.  Eden had opened a two pack of baby bowls earlier that morning...and the sticker had most certainly been stuck to her for that long.
We are suddenly crippled by laughter... you know the kind where you can't breathe and your face is frozen in the a wide grin, you can hardly see out of your squinted eyes because your cheeks are in the way and the impending tears are blurring your vision.

Event #4:
Selina is calmly walking through the store with cell phone in hand and we realize one of our carts is missing...She joins in the conversation with "where is it? who had it last?" before having an Ah Ha moment.  Then Selina says she had it just before she got on the phone for 10 minutes, did a thorough examination of jewelry, and of handbags and  tights.  After retracing her steps we found it just where she left it... around the corner 2 departments over.

The trip also included Selina loosing the car keys and Mom making hard turns with the cart to create a "tooting" sound and make Cora laugh...
Last but not least, Cora was riding on the back of the cart and got her dress caught in the wheels. We tried to back up but her skirt got caught even more. After a rip and a giggle Cora was standing there in the isle in just her tights with her skirt around her ankles.

a 70's platform and a little bit of ditz

Jan 19, 2011

Check out these cute (not weather appropriate) shoes.
These pretty platforms were 6.00 from DI(thrift) this last summer.
They are yummy, brown, leather and vintage... It was like striking thrift store gold!

Can anyone else see the line in my hair where the color changes from reddish brown to brown to really light brown... anyone?
I had blond hair a year and a half ago SEE HOW BLOND I WAS. It's time to refresh that color, I'd say.

No makeup...

A bit of makeup....

INTRODUCING:
"A little bit of ditz"
So my sisters and I are incredibly intelligent women who occasionally do really stupid things. We love to laugh at ourselves and thought you would like to join in on the funnies.

This morning I'm wearing my 1.50 Forever21 glasses, since my other ones broke...(I break glasses sometimes so I really love that these were 1.50!!!)
On my way to walmart to grocery shop I notice that the lenses were a bit blurry... hmmm. I better clean them when I get home. I walked around all morning with my "foggy" glasses.

GENIUS.
